The short version
A business sets a funding goal and a deadline, explains what the money is for, and offers rewards — a free coffee, a class, a name on the wall. Neighbors back the campaign and claim a reward. The business keeps everything it raises, even if it does not reach its goal.
If you run a business
- 1Create your campaign
A five-step guide walks you through your business, your goal and deadline, your story, your photos and your reward tiers. Everything saves as a draft, so you can stop and come back.
- 2Verify your business
Upload your registration, license, tax document and ID. Verified businesses get a badge, which is the single biggest driver of whether people back you.
- 3Submit for review
A reviewer reads every campaign before it goes public. Most are approved quickly, or sent back with a note telling you exactly what to fix.
- 4Go live and share
Your campaign appears on browse and in your city and state hub. Your own customers are almost always your first backers.
- 5Post updates and deliver
Keep backers posted from your dashboard. When the campaign closes, you fulfil the rewards you promised.
If you want to back a business
- 1Find a campaign
Browse by business type, by what the money is for, or by your own city and state.
- 2Read the page
Every campaign shows the goal, how far along it is, what the money will be spent on, who is behind it and the risks involved.
- 3Pick a reward
Choose a reward tier or give any amount you like. You can add a note for the owner.
- 4Track it
Your backing page shows everything you have supported, what you pledged, and the status of each reward.
What this is not
Backing a business on Pledzy is a reward-based contribution, not an investment. You do not receive ownership, interest, profit or any financial return. Rewards are provided by the business owner, not by Pledzy.
