Privacy policy

What information Pledzy collects from backers and businesses, how verification documents are stored, and how to change or delete your data.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and, if you add them, a photo, short bio and home city.
  • Backing activity: the campaigns you pledge to, the amounts, any note you write and the campaigns you save.
  • Business details: business name, category, location, story, photos and the campaigns you create.
  • Verification documents: registration, tax ID, photo ID and bank proof, submitted only by business owners who ask to be verified.

Why we use it

  • To run your account and show your dashboards.
  • To display campaigns publicly and connect backers with businesses.
  • To review campaigns and verify businesses before they go live.
  • To send the emails you have turned on in your settings.

Who can see what

  • Live campaigns, including the business name, story, photos and totals, are public.
  • A campaign owner can see who backed their campaign, the amount and any note.
  • Your pledges are otherwise visible only to you.
  • Verification documents are stored privately and can be opened only by you and our reviewers. They are never shown on a campaign page.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers who run the platform on our behalf — hosting, database, storage and, once card payments are connected, the payment provider — and when the law requires it.

Your choices

  • Edit your name, photo, bio and location any time in account settings.
  • Turn individual email types on or off in account settings.
  • Reset your password from account settings.
  • Ask us to delete your account and personal data. Records tied to completed pledges may be kept where we are required to keep them.

Cookies and security

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in. Data is held in an access-controlled database with per-user permissions, and uploaded documents sit in private storage that requires a signed link to open.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so on the site. Questions about your data can go through the contact options in your account.
